|10:38 pm - Yet another nom + yet another drabble|
Apparently 'tis the season to nominate, and I'm not one to complain.
Strawberries was nominated for Best Willow/Other Female Author, Best Willow/Other Female Fic, Best Comedy, and Cloudbusting for Best Fluff. Thanks so much to whoever nominated me!
Also, here's a drabble for this week's open_on_sunday challenge, "Unusual".
"Yo, Wes." Faith and Buffy entered the library. "We were just attacked by some freaky-ass demon that called B 'Delilah' and tried to stab her with a knife."
"Oh dear," Wesley mused. "It would appear you've encountered a Tom Jones demon."
"A what? Do you know what that is, B?"
Buffy shook her head while checking her new coat for damage. "Nope. Must be something new."
"Well, actually," Wesley tried to suppress a giggle, "It's not unusual."
The two teenagers stared at him, non-plussed.
"I mean, I'll... look through the books and see what I can find," he added sheepishly.

Poor Wes - it's a terrible thing to feel old. But not unusual.

Wes must be seriously behind the times because even he is way too young for Mr. Jones. Giles otoh...
Wes became a fan when Tom Jones covered Prince's "Kiss" in the late 80s. Trufax.

I had forgotten about that.
I am old enough to remember Tom when he first became big. And hip enough to have never been a fan. Prince otoh...
My, my, myyyyy, yes. Thanks!

Maybe it was hoping Buffy would throw her underwear at it.
Actually, that's Faith's plan.
ROFL *throws funny-shaped cookies*
Thanks! *munches hilariously*
"The two teenagers stared at him, non-plussed." I've received those looks from my own kids, usually followed by an eye roll.
I think there's a gene for that that activates between 12 and 19 years old. Thanks!
Hee! Also, congratulations again.
Loved it. Totally gave me a good chuckle.
I saw Tom Jones in concert, took my mom, now I will never be able to think of that and not think of this story (and a demon!) LOL
Thanks a lot! I can't actually claim credit for coming up with the joke (though it doesn't usually feature a demon) but I figured I could get away with it if I had Wesley tell it.
(Late reply, sorry.)
